Hello and welcome to the
KPS Writing Development and Forum. This site was created for those writers
who are interested in sharing their ideas, talent, and writing samples with
other aspiring writers. Let me state at the beginning that I am not a
teacher nor am I a published author. Rather, I am someone who has held a
strong interest in writing for most of my life, and I wanted to setup a place
where others, like myself, could share our interests. The idea for developing this site came to me after reading an article in the January 2004 edition of Writer's Digest entitled "The Perfect Writing Group." I believe that writing groups can be very valuable and beneficial to all writers no matter what their skill level. For a time, I was involved with a small local writing group and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the time spent with the members. Unfortunately, the group did not last long, and the area in which I reside left me with no other groups to join. Upon reading the article in Writer's Digest, I was inspired by the notion of starting my own writing group, and I decided to put my Web design talents to good use by developing this website for such a group. And thus began the great experiment. The purpose of this group will be to help the members develop their writing interest at their own pace. This group is not dedicated to getting anyone published. Instead, it is to provide a forum were members can share their ideas, sharpen their talent, explore possibilities, and confer with other members who share that burning desire to create and to write.I have a sign above my desk that states simply, "No Excuses!! Just Sit Down and Do it". The mission is to encourage one another to continue to put word to paper, thought into sentence, and worlds into paragraphs. My personal mission is to sit down and write something everyday, no matter how much, or how little, it may be. My ultimate goal is to find the writer that I have lost within. To hunt down the demon that haunts me constantly, whispers wonderful thoughts during the day, and gives up nothing at night. I want to exercise this demon from my soul and rediscover the joy I once found in writing. I would like to share this goal with others so that we may lean on one another and be that support when the howls of distraction come crying. As with any group, there must be rules. The first, and most important, rule is anything written by one member belongs to that member. It shall be their
intellectual property and that member will retain all the rights granted under the laws of copyright. This rule covers anything that may be posted on this website
as well as well as anything shared between members. The second rule is that no member will post anything that they do not own the rights too. This means no
member may post anything written by someone else. The third rule is that no member shall claim to be better than any other member.
This group is open to any and all writers, published or not, who wish to polish
and grow their interest in writing. Writing is
just like anything else in life. You never stop learning and you cannot ever learn all there is to know about writing. And the forth rule is that no one is to
be put down, criticized, or to be made fun of for any reason. This is a group to share, to enlighten, and most of all, to have fun.
So with all that said, where do we go from here?
Well, that depends on the interest in this group. I do not have any plans
to have a membership fee at this time. Those who are interested in sharing
ideas and thoughts about how to get the group going, communicate with one
another, or how to post pieces of writing, please feel free to contact me at my
E-mail address below. If you would like to share information with other
users, or myself, please feel free to visit the forum
